Planting the Seeds of the Gospel

Over the years I’ve brought many Bible story books here from the US. And almost all of them are literally falling apart from use after years of Bible stories, and perfecting the fine art of reading upside down.

Many children in the community have heard just about every story in my Bible books. Some of them getting to the point where they would tell the story themselves!

Sadly many of those children who loved those Bible stories have since become too old to become interested in the things of God. Which is why I was so careful to plant the seeds of the Gospel when they were young.

There are those who may believe young children aren’t able to grasp truths of the Gospel. But I disagree, because the Lord led me to Salvation at the age of five because my parents continually planted the seeds of the Gospel in my mind.

I have a vivid memory of at the age of five in the back of a blue Toyota station wagon on the way to the grocery store asking my mother. “Mom how doe I get saved?” And I also remember her responding “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.”

So on the way to the grocery store in Duncansville PA.

  1. I understood I was a sinner
  2. And Jesus died in my place
  3. And asked Christ to save me

I have seen many children go from an openness to the Gospel to completely rejecting it seemingly overnight. And each time it reminds how important it is to plant the seeds of the Gospel while we can.
