A Focused Life

Hats are something I almost always wear because my head is bald, and it helps with the heat while ministering to others. Over Christmas 2018 I bought a new one that was covered in camouflage.

Technically it is illegal to wear that if you aren’t part of the police force, so I did speak with the local police who assured me it was okay. I also didn’t wear that one often so there wouldn’t be any confusion

Why buy a camouflage hat in the first place?

As a visual reminder of God’s call to be focused

I have seen in my own life, and the lives of many other Christians, the damage done by being distracted. In other words you eithor put off the work of God, or allow something to distract you from accomplishing it.

In extreme cases, this results in lots of activity, but the Will of God is not completed.

Scripture instead challenges us to be completely focused on accomplishing the work of God rejecting all distractions. So like Paul we can say “I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7), and “I press towards the mark for the prize” (Philippians 3:14).

This kind of focus takes a determination to know what is next, and accomplish that task. You cannot allow Satan to distract you with any temptations. This kind of focus is illustrated through the military.

Which is why I have the hat 🙂

Even though I don’t wear it that hat is a visible reminder that I’m in a spiritual war. And that all it takes is a little distraction to get me off course.
