This week I hope to finish book one for 2023 “Mission Possible: Go Create a Life that Counts” by Tim Tebow. I actually listened to the audio version of this book last year, but wanted to read it as well.
This book is a very good one to start the year because it focuses on being purposeful with your life, or mission focused.
There are many lessons that can be learned from this book, but this for me is the most powerful…..
The small things should be done with purpose, and passion.
Tim Tebow emphasizes in the book “starting where you are” which is a very important lesson when it comes to growth. Often when thinking about purpose our mind goes to huge things such as having a vision, strategic planning, or our big dreams. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with this. But we can overlook the importance of the smaller more mundane moments of life.
My favorite quote from the book is seen at the top of this post.
“Purpose is entwined in every area of your life” Tim Tebow
To put that in basic terms….we must be passionate about everything
Because God called you to do it!!!
The calling of God does deal with the larger areas of life such as our jobs, family decisions, and future. But His calling also impacts the boring, non-glamorous actions of life such as changing diapers because He brought us to that place. The Lord then commands that we do the daily tasks with a passion and excellence instead of waiting for the more important jobs.
I am reminded of a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. that describes this well.
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper. He should sweep streets even as a Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all hosts of heaven and earth pause to say; Here lives a great sweeper who did his job well “.
I am grateful for this book by Tim Tebow that reminds us every moment of life has purpose.
